Random photos from spring break

This is the World Gold Villiage Golf course. It was beautiful!

This street was mazing. These treese are called Spanish moss. I guess they are not from spain, and it is not moss. Interesting.

Sorry, this is a pretty bad picture. We were driving by it when I snapped the picture, but you get the just of it. There are no two windows on this building that are alike. From what we learned, these people believed that when ghosts escape from a wondow, they are not able to find the same way back in because the windows are different. I think these people need to get out more often. :)

Beach. Oh how I miss thee.

Our last day in St. Augustine we stumbled upon this. This is an old castle surrounded by houses. We tried getting to it, but it is surrounded by trees or no tresspassing signs. very weird, but beautiful castle!

Spring Break '10 cont.

Tuesday of our vacation, we went to the fitness room, and then I got my free coffee, yum. Then after we shed a few calories we hopped in the pool. I loved the pool here. And I was actually able to get in, because it was heated.

After a relaxing morning, we headed to downtown St. Augustine, which is where we went almost every single day. I was sick of it by the end of the trip. We went on a tour of a winery and did some wine tasting. Learning about the process of how they make things, like this, is always interesting to me. So I had fun. After the winery, we headed over to the fort. I am not normally interested in History. Anything that has to do with history, I think is boring. I actually enjoyed this fort. Even the whole city of St. Augustine has so much interesting information behind it. After our visit to the Fort, we headed over to Ripley's believe it or not. Danny had never visited one before. I didn't mind going again because I always have fun at these. I can't seem to find my pictures from Ripley's, so I will post them later.

Since St. Agustine is the oldest continuously occupied city, it is believed to still have those original residents, haha. It is believed that all the oldest buildings are haunted. I don't necessarilly believe in ghosts because I have never encountered one. If you believe in ghosts though, I don't think your crazy. We went on an adventure called Ghosts and Gravestones. Danny and I enjoy scary movies, so we thought this looked like fun. It is a tour at night of haunted places in downtown St. Augustine. They said that if you do not believe in ghosts, you will when your done with this tour....well...I still don't believe in ghosts. Anyways, they showed some buildings that are said to be haunted, they showed us the oldest jail, old cemetaries, which they said, "only because the cemetary fence stops here, doesn't mean the bodies stop there." This means, that the cemetary was actually a larger area at one point, and they made it smaller by putting up a fence. So today, there are probably bodies below the streets, sidewalks, etc. I was hoping to see ghosts in my pictures. You know how you see a vampire in person, but you can't see them in pictures. It's the opposite for ghosts. I haven't seen any ghosts in my pictures though, bummer. When we went in the jail, they had a few actors that played a part as if they were the "ghost prisoner" from years ago. It was interesting to see how their cells were, how they were treated, and how they were punished.

Wednesday of vacation

I've been worried about getting a call from alarm company about our home alarm. Well, Danny got a call from from Linden's alarm company. So, I will settle for that, ha ha. It was at about 4am, and the alarm guy said there was break in activity. Graydon couldn't find any "break in" activity. So that phone call at 4 am this morning is a mystery. After my morning workout, I made Danny breakfast in bed; Florida grown orange juice and 2 pop tarts. Hey, he's the cook in our house, not me. lol Once we finally got out of the condo, we headed out for lunch, before our trip to the beach. I wanted to try Checkers. I knew it was similar to Rally's, but come to find out it is Rally's, just a different name in the South. We spent the rest of the afternoon at Vilano Beach. It was beautiful. It is also the first beach that I have seen people drive on. You will see an orange cone in one of these pictures. It means you cannot drive beyond this point. On our way back to the condo, I was ready for more food. We saw a Krystal. It is pretty similar to White castle. Their sweet tea is amazing! The difference from their sandwhich to white castle, is that theirs do not have onions, and it does have mustard. I didn't even notice that it didn't have onions. I don't like mustard, so I did notice that. It was pretty good though.

We came back to our condo, showered and relaxed for a bit. Then we played putt-putt that night. Every time I go to Florida, I have to play putt-putt. I just think Florida has the best putt-putt courses. Plus it is something we always did on our family vacations when I was younger. Since our hours were so messed up, we ate dinner pretty late. Danny made a Tyson chicken fajita meal, which by the way was very good. Once we got home for the night we decided to watch a movie we had. We watched PRECIOUS. Awful movie. You don't need to watch it, just know that it does have a happy ending. I was crying and I know Danny was, but he won't admit it. I don't have kids, and it was hard to watch it. I wouldn't suggest any mothers watching it. It makes a good point, but I was very disturbed after watching it.
Thursday was our last full day in St. Augustine. We ate lunch at Murray Bros. Caddyshack. DELICIOUS. If you ever go to St. Augustine, you should eat there. It obviously had lots of Caddyshack memorabilia. It was fun to just sit there and look at all the decor.
Friday, I got up at 3am. We were checked out of our resort and on the road by 3:50am. The Gps said we would be home by 8:44. Somewhere along the way, while still in Florida, Danny took a turn before the GPS said to. Then we had to avoid another accident, which had all surrounding roads blocked off. Somewhow, this detour we took, shaved 2 hours off our time. We made a few stops once we got back in Indy, and Still made it home by 8.
So, we did make it home safely.

As you know, while I was blogging on vacation, I had a problem with pictures on Danny's computer. Now that we are home, I am able to use my computer. So I finally have pictures! I have gone back to each blog and updated it with pictures from our vacation. So to follow-up, go back to Sunday March 28th to view some of our vacation photos. It is taking me forever to finish my blog because I hate adding pictures. I combined some helpful tips from Jamie, Dawn and Shannon on how to upload my pictures. So I am finally having better luck.

Spring Break 2010...Cont

So here it is Sunday. We got up Sunday morning and ate our free continental breakfast. Check out time was 10am, so that is when we got back on the road. We drive down the coast of Georgia. Check in time in St. Augustine was 3 pm, so we thought we would just make stops at places that looked exciting. We stopped at the Florida welcome center and took lots of brochures. They also had sampling of the best Orange Juice I have had in my life. 1 of the 100 brochures that I took was for Amelia Island. It looked like fun, so we decided to stop there.

Amelia Island was just as we entered Florida on the Atlantic Coast. We walked out onto the beach. It was a very cloudy cool day. I put my toes in the water and felt hypothermia set in. So I kept my piggies in the sand and out of the water. Danny was able to stand in the water for awhile. Fun fact: I used to love Pippy Longstocking. I guess "Pippy" is from here and this is where the movie was filmed.

Pic to far right: I almost stepped on this nasty spider with my bare foot!!!

From Amelia Island, we hopped on A1A Beachfront Avenue. Oh, and Vanilla Ice says hello. Our GPS gave us directions, which we found out would have taken us straight to a ferry boat for vehicles. So, we bypassed that, and took a LONG scenic detour route. We made it to our hotel right at check in time. Well, I was wrong, check in time was 4, but they had our room ready at 3.

Our condo is in the World Golf Villiage. It is beautiful! The golf course here on the property is amazing. We have sandy volleyball courts, tennis, and basketball courts, grills, pool with waterfall, and lots of small activities in the clubhouse. I have never stayed in a hotel with this much fun stuff. So I think we will have plenty to do the rest of the week.

The rest of the evening we checked out the property and drove to see what all was around us. We got lost in the GHETTO! It was awful. There was a bad accident that had all surrounding roads blocked off. Which, later on, we saw the accident on the cover of St. Augustine's newspaper. I'm glad we didn't hit that intersection minutes before, and I'm glad we survided the ghetto. On our little drive, we saw some of the largest houses I have ever seen in my life. And their back yards were the Atlantic Ocean. That just amazes me.

More to come later.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I hope everyone has a great day!

Can you believe we could not find any plastic eggs yesterday?! I just wanted them for food. To make a few egg shaped things. Where did you find your plastic eggs?

Dana

P.S. I am still going to blog about the rest of our vacation. We've been busy since we have been home. So it's just taking me a little while. Plus now I can add pictures. And that is time consuming. It's a pain in the rear uploading them. I have everything typed out and then I add pictures, and it messes up all of my paragraphs. Does anyone have a better solution to this?

Spring Break 2010...Continued

Ok, so this is what we really did Monday;

First thing this morning, they had a "morning mingle," with free breakfast. They don't normally have free breakfast so I had to show up for this. I was hoping I could get in and out of there without "mingling," since I am anti-social. And we succeeded. While we were there we signed up for the St. Augustine trolly tour. We paid $23 per person, which gave us unlimited access to the trolly for the rest of the week. This way, we do not have to pay for parking. It also got us into the museum for free, and gave us transporation to all the beaches in the area. Seemed like a pretty good deal. We took the full tour today, and learned alot about this city. It really is an interesting city, with lots of history. While on the tour, we saw a Hungry Howie's with a buffet for $4.99. So, that was our last stop. Funny story, I have only ate Hungry Howie's in Florida. There is one in Avon, and I still have never ate there. Last time I was in Florida, we went to Tampa, and I ate it there for the first time.

On our way back to the hotel from here, we stopped at the outlet mall. I forgot to pack a belt, and I guess I thought it was going to be alittle warmer here than what it is. So I was on the hunt for a belt, and a jacket or hoodie. Found a sweatshirt, but no belt. My pants are falling off, but atleast I'm warm.

I think were going to eat in for dinner, since we ate out for lunch. Oh, I forgot to tell you last night we went to the grocery store, Publix. I spent $40 and I don't think I got much. We might run to Wal-mart later to get a belt. Wal-mart is more in my price range.

I'm going to watch Danny cook dinner, so bye for now.
